Detective Investigations into Endangering Alcoholism

Even the legal drug alcohol can be a central subject of investigations carried out by our Aaden detectives from Cologne – and in practice, this occurs even more frequently than cases involving so-called “hard” drugs. Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to behavioural changes just as serious and dangerous as those caused by hard drugs. Severe cases are regularly encountered by our Cologne detectives in matters of child care, for example when custody is exercised under the influence of alcohol and the child is even transported by car while the driver is intoxicated. This behaviour is not an isolated case: approximately 1% of the German population is affected by alcoholism – around 800,000 people in Germany alone.

Damage to Employers and the Economy

Alcoholism is not “only” a threat to health and well-being, but also represents a significant economic burden. Public funds must cover medical treatment for alcohol-dependent individuals, as well as rehabilitation measures, medication, early retirement, alcohol-related unemployment benefits, continued wage payments during recovery periods, and, of course, the costs arising from alcohol-related traffic accidents.

Loss of Performance

The damage to employers can hardly be measured statistically. The myth of the functioning alcoholic is always only a temporary calculation. Even if an alcohol-dependent employee can maintain their productivity at work for a while, this will not be possible in the long term, and the employer ends up with an employee who makes avoidable mistakes and poses a risk to the company’s well-being. In the long run, alcoholism does not only have physical consequences; the psyche is also affected: changes in personality, loss of critical judgment, increased willingness to take risks, impaired sense of reality, and lack of foresight.

Our detectives from Cologne are happy to assist you with problems relating to alcoholism.
